Letter From Romania

July - August 2006
Dear Friends,

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21).

Greetings to you in the Name of Yeshua HaMashiach, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Lorraine Miller (center) and some of the volunteers who loaded the container for Romania.

Some of the children in the dance group practicing for their trip to Oradea next month.

Last month we sent a forty-foot container to Romania. It was organized by our
office assistant in Waynesboro, Lorraine Miller, assisted by a team of volunteers
from the local churches. It transported brand-new boots, shoes, coats, hats,
gloves and scarves collected by the radio station in Indiana in April and is
expected to arrive in Iasi in mid-August. The load will be distributed in
part to flood victims in the south of the country, as well as to the three
hundred children we help on a regular basis. Another container is planned
for next month.

The children’s dance group has been invited to perform in Oradea by the
Messianic congregation there. The event will take place in August in a
downtown theater and will be publicized in the churches in the area. The
children are very excited about the trip and spend many hours practicing for
the special occasion. They will travel across the country in the blue bus.

We continue the search for a Romanian-speaking pastor for our congregation of
children in Iasi. Laurian traveled to Bucharest, Oradea and Timisoara to visit
other Messianic churches which have recently been established in Romania. He
made known the need for a pastor and he got information on how to register
officially as a Messianic congregation. We trust the Lord to bring the right
person across our path at the right time.

Some of your gifts are being used to feed children at the canteens who do not have
adequate sponsorship. We often receive requests from desperate parents to help
their children in emergency cases. We are very thankful to those of you who send
donations for where most needed.

Painting and repair work is being carried out at Cantina El Shaddai in Tomesti
and at Cantina Adonai in Târgu Frumos. We hope to move Cantina Betel into our
new facilities at Cantina El Roi early in September. At Cantina El Roi the work
on the dining hall and the structure of the new kitchen is almost finished. Work
is continuing on the interior furnishings and the installation of appliances.

Stephen and Genovieva in Tiberias would welcome donations for Israel at this critical time.

Work is also being done at Casa Emanuel, our orphanage in Iasi. Major plumbing
repairs were needed. The outside windows and floor tiles needed to be replaced
and the interior walls whitewashed. A new family from Botosani has been found
and they will move into the orphanage as house parents for ten children as soon
as the work is completed.

The work on the outside walls of Casa Sfatcu, our mission office in Iasi, is
progressing well and will also be finished soon. All that remains after that is
to complete the guardrails on the porch and balcony and the footpath and fence
around the yard.

Here in Israel we thank the Lord for protecting us from the many rocket attacks of
recent days. Several have landed in Tiberias and one destroyed the top three floors
of an apartment block. When the sirens sound, residents take cover or go into the
bomb shelters. We go under our Jewish prayer shawl and ask the Lord for protection
over the city. At the time of writing, no one has been killed or injured in Tiberias.

We seek to express the peace of Yeshua (Jesus) to the local people and shopkeepers
and to share with them encouraging words. Many are suffering financial hardships
because of the ongoing war. If you would like to support Israel at this critical
time, we would welcome your donations for this purpose.

We plan to start an e-newsletter early next year. If you have not already done so,
please complete and return the enclosed slip giving us your e-mail address.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

Stephen & Genevieva
