towards Genovieva: "You're Christians! I can tell by the children's singing. Then, get out! Everyone get off this bus! Off! I am not taking you another yard!" All the children are silent, stunned with shock. "But..." intervenes Genovieva calmly, "we paid for this trip. Everything is in order. We have..." "Out!" yells the driver. "Please," insists Genovieva, "I am responsible for these fifty children. Night is falling, and it's beginning to snow. You can't leave us in the middle of the forest on a Christmas night. There might be wolves. I beg you, Sir, don't leave us here! Drive us at least to the next village!" "Everyone off!" repeats the driver, unbending. |
